August 22, 2012, the University of Groningen will host the first Groningen PhD Day. The PhD Day aims at providing PhD candidates with an opportunity to meet with experts in their field. It seeks to help candidates exploring possible future careers, both in and outside the academia. To this effect, the event hopes to bring together young researchers at our university and representatives of interesting organizations and companies. The day program will include an information market, plenary sessions, meet-the-expert sessions and career forum discussions. The event is organized jointly by the Groningen PhD Student Organization (Gopher) and the Graduate Schools of the University of Groningen.
Location: The location of the event will be the beautiful Academy building of the university situated in the heart of Groningen. The plenary lectures will be held in the university auditorium, which is undoubtedly one of the most impressive lecture halls in the Netherlands. The students can have a sneak peak at the Aula where they will defend their PhD thesis. Some of the meet-the-expert sessions will be held in Harmony building.
