Dr Miriam Lommen has a background in Mental Health Science and is an assistant professor in Experimental Psychotherapy & Psychopathology at the University of Groningen. Her research focuses on anxiety disorders and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
In her research, she tries to understand why some people develop PTSD after a traumatic event, while others recover naturally from such an experience. Furthermore, she studies the mechanisms through which risk factors contribute to the onset or maintenance of anxiety. She is currently examining the factors that influence the onset, maintenance, and treatment of PTSD and anxiety disorders, which will also be the focus of her talk.
