The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is an intergovernmental research institute focused on research in the life sciences. The institution has a long-standing tradition of scientific excellence that builds on highly interactive research between the group leaders of different research units. The EMBL Interdisciplinary Postdocs (EIPOD) Programme makes use of this unique environment to support and train Postdoctoral fellows. EIPOD fellows work on projects capitalizing on synergies emerging at the borders of overlapping yet separate scientific fields. Projects may also involve transferring techniques to a novel context. Each fellow is supported by at least two EMBL faculty. Additional external partners from academia or industry may also take part on EIPOD projects. The programme is open to all nationalities, offers about 20 positions annually and provides 3-years of secured funding.
